Course content
Main topics: 1. Early influences and relationality - attachment 2. Early influences and relationality - socialization of expressing and receiving affection 3. Early influences and relationality - socialising the exercise of one's influence in relationships 4. Concepts of relationship and family development - Milton Erikson, Jürg Willi 5. Stages of family development - choice of partner, falling in love, young couple without children - principles of couplehood, progressive and regressive positions, collusion 6. Stages of family development - conception and birth of children, family with young children 7. Stages of family development - parents' middle age and children's adolescence, coming out of the nest 8. Stages of family development - empty nest, old age, loss of partner 9. Relationships as a system - couple, family, structural approach in psychotherapy 10. Crisis, its resolution and pseudo-solution, strategic approach in psychotherapy, break-up, patchwork families 11. Difficulties of family systems, pathologies of partner relationships 12. John Gottman - research and counselling

Learning outcomes
The student will learn the basic concepts of psychology, research and psychotherapy of couples and families. The student will learn to view the family as a dynamic interactional system, and understand the systemic context of difficulties. They will develop, apply and integrate knowledge of developmental psychology, social psychology, psychodiagnostics, counseling and psychotherapy in the context of family issues.
