1. Introduction to psychology (definition of psychology, why study psychology, history and origins, major perspectives in psychology, key areas of psychology) 2. Personality psychology ( definition of psychology, theoretical perspectives on personality, assessments and measurements, biological foundation of personality) 3. Wellbeing (definition, importance of wellbeing, dimensions of wellbeing, theories of wellbeing, factors affecting wellbeing, strategies for promoting wellbeing) 4. Social Psychology and Contemporary Issues (Introduction to social psychology, importance, social influence and conformity, social roles and norms, prejudice, stereotypes, discrimination, group dynamics and collective behaviour, social media and technology and its role in social influence)

Learning outcomes
|
The subject is focused on the presentation of the psychology for students of social sciences programmes, related interdisciplinary programmes, and other students who want to get an insight into contemporary psychological research and praxis. NOTE: THE COURSE IS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH AND IS INTENDED FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS AND STUDENTS OF OTHER FACULTIES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH BOHEMIA. THE COURSE IS NOT INTENDED FOR REGULAR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH BOHEMIA.
Students will acquire basic orientation in selected fields of psychology and psychological research. The aim of the course is also to develop functional psychological literacy and critical thinking.
