Course content
1. Historical aside: development or Russian administrative system after 1861 up to now/Traditional territorial split and institutions - orientation on the map. 2. Nationality representation of Russia and further CIS countries. . Items of traditional race, national and religious tolerance in Russia and other CIS countries. 3. Political system of the present Russia and new administrative split of Russia and other Eastern countries. 4. Generally to demographic situation in Russia. Traditional and new centers - orientation on the map. 5. States of the former Soviet Union and items of their border - controversial cases. 6. Items of migration and emigration on the territory of Russian and other Eastern countries/ Characteristics from the historical point of view. 7. Fuel and power producing industry in Russia and other CIS countries /Preparation of fuel and development of mining centers - orientation on the map. 8. Mechanical engineering and metallurgical industry/Traditional and new centers - orientation on the map. 9. Extraction of other raw materials : iron, color and precious metals and their processing - Russia and other Eastern countries. 10. Economic regions of Russia and other Eastern countries - characterization/Central and Wolga Region orientation on the map. 11. Nature of Russia, waters/Orientation on the map. 12. Issues of transport and structure of transport network/ Orientation on the map. 13. - 14. Closing and repeating the whole part, questions, topics, discussion. Examination.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Basic geographical data about Russia and next easter countries. Natural conditions in Russia.Current territorial Russian problems againts a historical background. Lay-out of political forces and main political parties and their representatives. International political relationships contemporary Russia - Baltic states, NATO etc.
The students are able to take fast and relatively comprehensive their bearings with wide spectrum of geographical questions, dealing with not only economy, but also with the state's system, currency, Russian contemporary demography and in part also easter land and former republics USSR.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge about state system and demography in Russia and easter countries.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam, Test, Interim evaluation

Regular participation and active work in seminars, mastering the subject matter. Findings of economical and physical geography should be mastered in detail - the changes after 1991.
