Course content
1. Legal and ethical background of material procurement. Biological photography. Evidence. Application for determining species 2. Rocks, minerals, fossils 3. Preparation of insects I. (stabbing and gluing - beetles), maintenance and protection of insect collections 4. Preparation of insects II. (preparation with spreading wings - butterflies) 5. Vertebrates I. (liquid preparations, osteological preparation) 6. Vertebrates II. (dermoplastic preparations) 7. Residential signs, photo traps 8. Heterotrophic protists (collection of material, simple cultivation, etc.) 9. Cyanobacteria and algae (collection of material, use of culture collections, permanent preparations - diatoms, stained preparations, etc.) 10. Fungi and lichens (herbariums, preservation of polypores, collection of microscopic fungi, etc.) 11. Bryophytes and vascular plants (herbariums, special collections of larger objects, e.g. pine cones, etc.) 12. 3D printing 13. Excursion to the depositories and exhibition parts of the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice

Learning outcomes
The subject is intended for biology teaching students and its aim is to provide students with information about the possibilities of obtaining material for teaching biology, its maintenance, preparation and conservation. During the seminar, students will also receive information on how to take care of the school's science collections. The seminar also includes a museum excursion to a professionally managed collection.
