Lectures: Summary of restrictions on the handling of CITES Appendix plant species. CITES woody plants. CITES orchids. CITES succulents and xerophytes. CITES carnivorous plants. CITES ferns, cycads and palms. CITES bulbous and tuberous plants. CITES other plants. Tutorials/seminar: Turials: Full-day excursion to a selected CITES rescue centre (e.g. BZ HLMP, BZ UK, or BZ MU).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the biology and distribution of CITES-listed plants, their position in the taxonomic system, reasons for CITES listing, causes of endangerment and conservation options.

Assessment methods and criteria
|

At least 80% participation in exercises including excursions, basic knowledge of plant biology and botany, 75% success rate in the written test.
