Course content
|
Content of lectures: An overview of the historical development of pollen analysis, with the help of which students willget a good idea of the application of the method to the knowledge of the development ofvegetation, landscape and other aspects of the (Quaternary and especially postglacial) past.Application of quantitative and qualitative methods of reconstruction. Demonstration of theinvolvement of pollen analysis in multidisciplinary environmental archaeological research, usingreal examples. In addition to the frontal transfer of knowledge, students will be involved throughcritical reading of current scientific literature (articles) and reporting on them in front of a plenarysession of enrolled students and involved pedagogues. Learning outcomes
|
Acquiring basic knowledge about pollen analysis as one of the most important methods ofpaleoecological and environmental archaeological reconstruction. Focusing on both practicaland theoretical aspects of the method: searching for localities, obtaining and preparing samples,determining pollen and other microscopic objects, numerical processing and data visualization,interpretation of results from multiple perspectives, regional and supra-regional synthesis of knowledge.
