Learning outcomes
The course explains main analytical methods for analysis of substances (analytes) in clinical material so that the student will understand principles of the main instrumental methods used in current bioanalysis. During the course the student will study the physico-chemical properties of a suitable, selected analyte according to the assignment, collects suitable, available information about it, draws the chemical structure in a suitable, available drawing program, describes by him/her proposed method, its preanalytical, analytical and postanalytical phases and relevant references.
Students will gain an overview of basic bioanalytical methods and their application in clinical analysis.
Prerequisites
Knowledge from the basic course of physical chemistry and basic introductory practical chemical exercises.
Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam
Submit a seminar paper focused on the analysis of a selected analyte (required for credit), successfully complete a written test (minimum score of 50%) and pass an oral exam (answer 2 out of 3 questions). Attendance at the practicum (maximum 1 absence)
