Course content
|
The development of legislation in the international, European Community and Czech context; Overview of the current legislation in the area of CITES regulation of international and intra-EU trade in specimens of endangered species of fauna and flora - and in the areas of related issues of protection and management of organisms of interest (fauna and flora). Trade of EU Member States with third countries: import, export and re-export from the EU, of specimens of a personal or family nature, born and bred in captivity or artificially bred. Export of a specimen of a plant species on the basis of a phytosanitary certificate. Transit, intra-EU and domestic trade: Prohibition of commercial exploitation of certain specimens, movement of live specimens, Compulsory registration, marking. Registration of dealers, scientists and scientific institutions, breeding or cultivation facilities - Forms, applications and documents. CITES authorities, organisation and competences of the state administration Control of the CIE, customs supervision, veterinary checks at borders - Proof of legal origin - Sanctions, criminal offences, seizure and detention, handling of seized specimens - Suspension of import of specimens of certain species into the EU - Export of specimens of "non-cites" specially protected species from the territory of the Czech Republic. Regulation of hunting. Rules on transport of animals. Animal cruelty. Rules for conducting experiments on animals. Interest breeding. Veterinary and phytopathological control. Zoological gardens.

|
The aim of the course is to teach students the orientation in the legal regulations of protection and management of organisms of interest in the international, European community and Czech context.

A minimum of 80% attendance. Active participation in discussions. Advanced knowledge of conservation and management of organisms of interest. CITES, trade rules, specifics of zoological and botanical gardens, control authorities.
