Course content
|
Participation on the seminars of Department of Chemistry and presentation of the master thesis. Work on the master thesis in a laboratory. Finalizing the master thesis, its submission with the approval of the supervisor.

Learning outcomes
|
Students should register for this course in the 5th semester or in the semester, when the master thesis will be submitted and defended. Student must present her/his work at least once during the course UCH/008B. This course will be credited if the student presented her/his master thesis at least once during UCH/008B, the supervisor is satisfied with student's work in the laboratory and with the submitted thesis.
Students analyze, discuss, and evaluate the presented information by other students (k4, k5) and present their own presentation on their theses in which they apply the gained knowledge (k3, k6). Students will learn how to present the results of their work in front of a wide audience (k3). During the discussion they will gain experience with opposing opinions on their presented results and learn to defend their results (k4, k5, k6).

Prerequisites
|
Students enrol for UCH/008B in the last semester of their studies (UCH/008A in the Winter or Summer semester of the 1st year (or the year during which students study at USB)). Each student presents a literature review of their thesis once during UCH/008A in the form of a short 5-minute lecture; if the student already has some results, these can be included, and the lecture can take up to 10 minutes. Each student presents once during UCH/008B in the form of a 10-minute presentation. Students will receive credit for active participation/presence in lectures (at least 8 lectures per semester) and the presentation of their results (see above). Each presenting student should provide at least the title and abstract of the presentation two weeks before giving a presentation.
