Course content
1) Health and disease. The bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach in healthcare. 2) Basics of epidemiology and hygiene. 3) Quality of life and its evaluation. Healthy life style. 4) The documents Health 21 and Health 2020. 5) The healthcare-social aspects of health and disease in children. 6) The healthcare-social aspects of health and disease in adults. 7) The healthcare-social aspects of health and disease in the elderly. 8) The health care-social aspects in individuals manifesting sociopathic phenomena. 9) Social work in healthcare. 10) The ethical aspects of social work in healthcare.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce students to the social aspects of health and disease at the individual stages of human life, with quality of life and healthy life style. The student acquires an awareness of the healthcare system and position of social worker in healthcare.
The student will know the diseases occurring most frequently in the course of life with their symptoms, prevention and social consequences. The student will acquire basic knowledge of epidemiology and hygiene. She will learn to propose suitable solutions to social situations in connection to the clients state of health including preventive measures. The student will acquire basic orientation in the healthcare system and position of social worker in healthcare.
