Course content
- Distinction of individual and social ethics, traditional areas and themes of the social ethics - Character of the Christian social ethics, Social Doctrine of the Church and the Catholic social thought - Sources, biblical and theological connections of the Social Doctrine of the Church - History of the Social Doctrine of the Church from the beginning of Christianity to the birth of modern Social Doctrine of the Church in 1891 - History, system and contents of the documents of the Social Doctrine of the Church since the encyclical Rerum Novarum (1891) to Centesimus Annus (1991) and further, in relation to contemporary situation and to problems of the area of politics and economics - Basic principles of the Social Doctrine of the Church (the personalist principle, solidarity, subsidiarity, common good) - Systematic explanation of the particular themes of the Social Doctrine of the Church ? attitudes to the areas as economics and politics, ideologies, capitalism, socialism, human rights, the international relations, the developement of the Third world, war and peace

Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to introduce the student into the area of social ethics and to apprise him of the Social Doctrine of the Church.
The student has a general overview in the contents of the documents and in reflection of the themes of the Social Doctrine of the Church.
