Course content
1. Support activation techniques using during work with seniors. 2. Increased dependence on social assistance to seniors. 3. The influence of social environment on health of seniors and living conditions in old age. 4. The issues of long-term and loneliness in old age. 5. The process of filling the bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs of seniors and their families. 6. The interrelation of complex health and social care. 7. The quality of social services for seniors - quality standards of social services, social services. 8. Social work with seniors in social care. 9. Social work with seniors at home and in the community. 10. The quality of social work with the senirs. 11. Material security in old age. 12. The European Charter of Seniors Pacient. 13. Ethical issues in caring for seniors. 14. Social work with senirs, chronically ill and incurable people. 15. Family relationship to seniors and long-term sick people.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Demonstration
  • Class attendance - 4 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 21 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 35 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with problems of seniors in the social field. Especially, students deepen their skills and knowledge that are the starting basis for their social work practice.
Students will understand how to solve social problems at seniors. Students also understand how they can apply specific methods when working with senior.
