Course content
1. Religions in for-islamic Arabia 2. Muhammad, Rise of the caliphate and Islamic civil war 3. Koran, sunna, islamic law. 4. cháridža 5. ší`a. 6. Ulama and fukaha 7. Articles of faith 8. Popular Islam 9. Five Pillars of Islam 10. Islamic reformism and modernism. 11. Islamic fundamentalism. 12. Modern ší`a. 13. Interreligious dialog: Islam with Judaism and Christianity

Learning outcomes
The course deals with problems of Islam. Students get acquainted with texts about Religions in for-islamic Arabia, Muhammad, Rise of the caliphate and Islamic civil war, Koran, sunna, islamic law, cháridža, ší`a, Ulama and fukaha, Articles of faith, Popular Islam, Five Pillars of Islam, Islamic reformism and modernism, Islamic fundamentalism, Modern ší`a or Dialog with Judaism and Christianity.
The students know the problems of Islam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Students must know the content of lectures and recommended literature. Students are also required to prepare a paper from a book from the bibliography of papers. Specific selection of books signed by the student on the sheet posted at the bulletin board of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Faculty of Theology, next to office number 4.28.
