Students will broaden their knowledge of the basic course of Islam for more detailed information on the status of Muslims in the Czech Republic. The core theme of the course will also become the status of Islam as a major element of encounter and encounter of civilizations with a global dimension. The themes of the course include the roots of the so-called Palestinian issue, democracy and human rights from the perspective of Islam, women in Islam, contemporary Islam in Western Europe, Shi'a Islam as the basis of the Iranian state, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, modern Turkey, and last but not least Islam as part of the interfaith dialogue. Students will get acquainted with current professional literature and information provided by the media on this topic, which will become the basis for subsequent discussion. An important objective of the course is to support the development of interreligious dialogue based on a careful mutual understanding of the parties' points of view.
The students orientate in various problems of modern islam.
