Odd years: 1. Theoretical basis 1.1 The notion of argumentation - semantic level (entailment) - syntactic level (syntactic proof) - psychological level - epistemic level 1.2 Related notions: - justification - epistemic commitment (epistemic duty) - rationality 1.3 Practical drill of argumentative techniques: - justifying a thesis - distinguishing premises and conclusions in an argument - identification of tacit premises - objecting - Socratic dialogue - namítání - sókratovský rozhovor Even years: The following elements will be combined as suitable: 1. Exposition of common types of fallacies and detection practice: - ad hominem in various senses and variants - circular reasoning, begging the question - propositional fallacies - equivocation fallacies - red herring - relevance fallacies - other types of informal fallacies 2. Practical analysis of real-life arguments proposed by students.

Odd years: Understand what argumentation is and and build practical proficiency in basic argumentative techniques. Even years: Proficiency in recognizing common types of fallacies. Practicing of analysis and critique of real-life argumentations.
