Course content
1. Early Christian and Romanesque Art - Characteristics, periodization, remarkable European artistic monuments, artistic monuments in the Czech Lands 2. Gothic - characteristic, periodization, remarkable European artistic monuments, artistic monuments in the Czech Lands 3. Renaissance - characteristic, periodization, remarkable European artistic monuments, artistic monuments in the Czech Lands 4.- 5. Baroque - characteristic, periodization, remarkable European artistic monuments, artistic monuments in the Czech Lands. Baroque theater specifics, characteristics, structure of performances. 7. Jewish Worship Music. 8. Gregorian Chant. 9. Czech Spiritual Song, Rorata. 10. Psalms. 11. The inspiration and influence of Christian music on the creation of selected significant composers during centuries. 12. Terminology (religious, spiritual genres). Myth and epic. 13. Selected genres of christian literature I. (anales, chronicle, exemplum, legend...). 14. Selected genres of christian literature II. (apocalypse, parabola, song, sermon, prayer...).

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The block of history of literature describes views of the world and Czech literature from the point of view of literary and extraliterary contexts. It contains basics of literary history, literary theory and criticism; cultural and social overview, authors and their works. It shows genre and thematic varieties- everything with the emphasis on the selected works from the Christian literary tradition.
The student is knowledgable in history of Christian art.
