Learning outcomes
|
Applied Ethics in Education The objectives of this course are: - To familiarize students with the ethical principles of the teaching profession across age groups. - To develop the ability to recognize the boundaries of professional roles and responsibilities towards oneself, clients, and the institution. - To strengthen the perception of human dignity as the fundamental basis of pedagogical work. - To teach students to communicate respectfully and trustworthily with various actors. - To develop skills for resolving conflicts and ethical dilemmas in an educational environment. - To support the ability to take an inclusive approach to vulnerable groups. - To support the ability to work within one's own limits and prevent burnout syndrome. - Guide students towards a balanced relationship between their professional and personal lives. - Familiarize them with the possibilities of supervision and psychological support as part of professional culture. - Enable students to understand different ethical systems and their influence on education. - Support critical thinking and the ability to reflect on the conflict between personal and institutional values.
By the end of the course, students should be able to: - Identify and analyze ethical dilemmas in educational practice. - Apply ethical principles when working with different age groups. - Engage in ethically sensitive communication and collaboration. - Reflect on their own professional role, limitations, and the need for self-care. - Create educational activities with ethical implications.

Prerequisites
|
Recommended prerequisites (not required for enrollment in the course!!): - familiarity with basic concepts in pedagogy and psychology (e.g., upbringing, education, developmental specifics of different age groups). - knowledge of basic principles of communication and working with individuals and groups. - openness to discussion about values, dilemmas, and moral issues. - willingness to reflect on one's own attitudes, behavior, and professional identity. - ideally, completed or ongoing practical experience in the field of leisure education, after-school clubs, camps, clubs, etc. - ability to transfer specific situations from practice to ethical analysis. - ability to engage in dialogue, listen, argue, and respect different opinions. - willingness to work in a group and participate in collaborative learning.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment, Colloquium, Seminar work, Interim evaluation
Requirements for completing the course: - regular attendance and active participation in seminars - reflection on ethical issues within the context of one's own practice - original and independent completion of the final project - presentation and defense of one's own project at the final colloquium.
