Course content
1.-3. Literature. Definitions and functions; factual, artistic literature, borderline structures; the issue of artistic sign; literature as a communication process (relationship between author, text and reader). Poetics and inner structure of a literary work (motif and theme, narrator, characters, setting, plot, composition, language, expressive forms). Literary types and genres. Literary criticism (history). 4.-8. Literary education. Aesthetic-educational process; components and relationships to other aesthetic subjects. Literary education and literary formation; comparison of scientific and literary-educational conception of literary formation; communication concept; the relationship of literary formation and education to reading; literature in the context of formal and non-formal education. The meaning and goals of literary education from the point of view of educational concepts (essentialism - literature as a cultural value vs. orientation to functional / reading literacy); the importance of literature and reading for human life. 9.-13. Reading and leisure. Developmental stages of reading, reading developmental continuum; international and national research on reading, current problems of reading; development of reading, projects to support reading. Formation through literature, formation for literature and reading in free time - specifics and opportunities (e.g. reading workshops, literary / reading circles / clubs). Teaching methods and forms of work suitable for creative reception, interpretation and production of literary texts (e.g. RWCT, creative writing, cultural diary, genre transformations of the text, dramatization, experiential pedagogy). Use of selected titles of literature for children and youth in education in leisure time.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is a deeper introduction to the concept of literature as part of the process of education and training focused on personality development. Literature is conceived not only as a means of knowledge, but above all as an educational tool used to develop values, attitudes and competencies for life. The focus of the subject is the area of hobby education.
The student deepens his/her knowledge and skills in the field of hobby literary education and the concept of literature as a means of formation.
Prerequisites
No previous knowledge beyond the standard requirements for entrance examination is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment

Knowledge of terminology; adequate knowledge of the issue; ability to discuss a topic; study of compulsory literature; analysis of a specific title of literature for children and youth and its use in hobby education.
