Course content
The introdution 1, The time and personality of Don Bosco 2, The idea of prevention in the political, social, pedagogical and religious spheres. Carriers of the idea of prevention in the field of pedagogy. 3, Relationship between the person and the work (various works of Don Bosco, his style). 4. The choice of the young (elements of the sociology and psychology of youth in Don Bosco; Don Bosco's educational offer to young people). 5, The aim of education according to Don Bosco: an honest citizen and a good Christian. 6, The core of Don Bosco's educational style: reason, religion and kindness. 7, The educative "family". 8, Sense of celebration, pedagogy of joy. 9, Educational charity, which requires discipline. The question of punishment. 10, Educational institutions (oratory, school, boarding school). 11, The present possibilities and challenges of Salesian pedagogy in a secular society. Conclusion and evaluation

Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Written action (comprehensive tests, clauses)

  • Semestral paper - 40 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 22 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Acquaint students with basic concepts to educate Don Bosco´s educatinal style (such as preventive system, assistance, etc.)
Student should gradually be able to interpret the educational activities of Salesian Youth Centre in terms of educational style of Don Bosco.
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledge of Church history and organisation of the Catholic Church.

Assessment methods and criteria
Colloquium

Participation in the consultations, min. 50%. Written contribution to the topic, presented at the colloquium.
