Course content
|
I. Introduction: 1) triune god as mystery of Love. 2) Permanent actuality of Trinitarian theology. 3) Far similarity of the Christian trinity in Hinduism (Trimurti). 4) Trinitarian theology springs not from cosmological speculations but from soteriological Christology and Christological soteriology. 5) "Descendant" dogmatic theologies in history from Trinitarian mystery to theology of worldly realities. 6) Person, work and life-story of the Jesus of Nazareth as religious explosion, which change and preserves Jewish monotheism. 7) Trinitology as Latine "uni-trinitas", and Greek "tri-unitas". II. Supports of Trinitology in the Holy Scripture: Indications of Trinitology in the Old Testament; Inclination to Trinitology in the New Testament III. Doctrines which might lead to Trinitology: 1) Jewish angelology; 2) Teaching about God's Logos by Filon of Alexandria; 3) Doctrine about Logos held by Stoics; 4) Plutarch from Chaeronea and his teaching IV. Misleading interpretations of the origin of Trinitology: Adolf von Harnack; Martin Werner. V. Inclinations towards Trinitology in the 2nd century: 1) apostolic fathers: Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, Martyrium Policarpi, Anaphoron Hyppolyti. 2) Apologists: Justin, Tatian, Theophylus of Antiochia, Athenagoras. VI. Tertullian as the first Latin trinitologian ("Adversus Praxean"). Hippolytus as the first Greek trinitologian ("Contra Noetum") VII. Misleading Trinitarian theologies: modalism, patripassionism, sabellianism, subordinacionism; specification of the term "monarchianism" VIII. Trinitology in the Arian storm: theology of Arius and Athanasius; synod of Alexandria and council of Nicaea (325); theology of the "pneumatomachos" a pneumatology of St. Basil. Differentiation in four directions: homoousians, homoioousians, homoians, anhomoians; Council of Constantinople (381) IX. Trinitology of St. Augustine X. Interpretation of the Trinitarian doctrine of the Church and its key terms and propositions; main documents of the Magisterium concerning the Trinitology XI. Identity problematic of the "imanent" and "oikonomic" Trinity; Discussion of axioms designed by K. Rahner, I. Congar and H. Urs von Balthasar XII. Generatio and spiratio. First "outside-mission" through incarnation (incarnatio) Son-The Word of God Father and second "outside-mission" through anointment (unctio) of the man Jesus by the Holy Spirit during the paschal event of crucifixion and resurrection. From there springs the mission of the Church to evangelize all nations as the consequence of the first and second "outside-mission" of the two God-persons.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of this course is to show development of the Christian doctrine of the triune God from signs in the Bible to its final formulation during councils of the 4th century, and in later theology. Next goal is to show originality of this teaching in comparison with some other god-conceptions in different religions.
Student has orientation in various conception of god, is able to decide for him or herself which conception of god offers the best "project of salvation". Student knows how to work in society as a responsible Christian.

Oral examination
Student makes notes from lectures. Shows them during the oral exam. Oral exam - show perfect knowledge of literature and lecture contents.
