Learning outcomes
The course Patrology deepening organically follows the course Patrology basic, the aim of which was to provide the student with a scientific introduction and instructions for studying and understanding and using early Christian writings. Within this deepening course, students will deal with specific authors and their works from this period; at the same time, their knowledge of cultural and social context will be deepened, emphasising mastery of church history, philosophy and the development of theology. In addition, the themes of the Council, Gnosticism and its literature, Christological heresies and anti-heretical literature, the first Christian schools and the theme of monasticism will be introduced.
By completing the course the student will gain knowledge in the range of thematic areas of the course and the ability to think about them in socio-cultural-political contexts, and is also able to see their interconnectedness in the fields of theology, religion and philosophy.
Prerequisites
The course is open to all students without basic knowledge of church history. Assumes completion of the course Patrology Basic.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

As part of the study, the teaching students meet regularly every week for 2 hours for one semester. Students are required to study study materials for individual thematic blocks. If necessary, students have the opportunity to participate in individual consultations according to the student's needs to explain any ambiguities or more complex issues - there is the possibility, in addition to regular weekly times, the use of email correspondence or communication via Skype (rudolf.svoboda8). Credit is awarded on the basis of passing the final oral interview, in which the student will prove both orientation in the subject matter and their own reflection on individual topics. Knowledge and orientation in the issue is verified by an oral interview, in which the student proves both orientation in the subject matter and their own reflection on individual topics. The student will be asked twelve questions (see Control questions and tasks listed in the Study Supports of the course). If 75% of them answer correctly, he will be awarded a credit.
