Learning outcomes
The subject Work with Sources of Spiritual Authors focuses on the introduction of selected spiritual authors and the subsequent reading of his texts. The authors' performances take place in the context of contemporary cultural-social and ideological-spiritual currents, within which the works are not only read, but also understood and interpreted. Great emphasis is placed not only on understanding the text itself, but also on grasping the meaning it had in its time, or even in subsequent periods. The aim of the course is also to deepen the student's knowledge of general and church history, history of theology and theology of spirituality.
By completing the course the student will gain knowledge in the range of thematic areas of the course and the ability to think about them in socio-cultural-political contexts, and is also able to see their interconnectedness in the fields of theology, religion and philosophy.
Prerequisites
The course is open to all students without basic knowledge of church history.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

As part of the study, the teaching students meet regularly every week for 3 hours for one semester. Students are required to study study materials for individual thematic blocks. If necessary, students have the opportunity to participate in individual consultations according to the student's needs to explain any ambiguities or more complex issues - there is the possibility, in addition to regular weekly times, the use of email correspondence or communication via MS Teams. Credit is awarded on the basis of passing the final oral interview, in which the student will prove both orientation in the subject matter and their own reflection on individual topics. The course is led by a combination of lecture and seminar form. Students are first introduced to the topic (generally historical and theological context), then the seminar works with texts from the above authors. The lessons are supplemented by self-study of recommended literature and subsequent individual consultations according to the student's needs to successfully understand the more complex parts of the studied issues. Knowledge and orientation in the issue is verified by an oral interview, in which the student proves both orientation in the subject matter and their own reflection on individual topics. The student will be asked twelve questions (see Control questions and tasks listed in the Study Supports of the course). If 75% of them answer correctly, he will be awarded a credit.
