Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces students to the issue of studying historical sources. The student will get acquainted with the classification of historical sources, the rules of criticism of sources, and individual types of historical sources. In addition, they will also get acquainted with the principles and procedures of the historian's work, the historical development of historiographical approaches and the specifics of church historiography. It is essential methodological preparation for those who want to acquire knowledge and skills in this area and want to use them practically in the preparation of their diploma thesis or further study.
Within this topic, the specifics of the approach to the study of church history will be re-arranged. In the first, students will be introduced to the history of church historiography. Subsequently, with regard to various historiographical trends and approaches, the specifics of views on church history will be presented. All this will be shown on examples from contemporary literature. In particular, the specifics of confessional understanding of church history and such concepts, which are linked to different ideological backgrounds, will be shown. This will prepare the space for the presentation of current discussions on the concept of church history in the domestic and foreign environment.

The course does not presuppose any input knowledge beyond the requirements of the admission procedure.

Assessment methods and criteria
|

Knowledge and orientation in the issue are verified by an oral interview, in which the student proves both orientation in the subject matter and their reflection on particular topics. The student will be asked twelve questions (see Control questions and tasks listed in the Study Supports of the course). If 75% of them answer correctly, he will be awarded a credit.
