Course content
1) Selection of the text for the exegesis 2) Textual criticism 3) Analysis of the structure of the text 4) Syntactic and semantic analysis 5) Form criticism 6) Other synchronic methods 7) Diachronic methods 8) The meaning of the text in the immediate context and in the context of the whole book 9) The meaning of the text in the context of the Bible and of the Christian faith

Learning outcomes
Students will deepen the competence how to do exegesis of Old Testament (=OT) texts with theological, anthropological and moral topics.
Students will deepen competence to use basic methods for interpretation of biblical texts, to make sense of historical and theological connections which form the background of OT text and to evaluate the importance of OT texts for the life of Church and people today.

Introduction to the Bible, Introduction to the Old Testament 1 and 2, Exegesis of the Old Testament.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment

The student will analyze an Old Testament text with the aid of his fellows; (s)he him/herself helps his/her fellows with his/her own observation on their work. Thus, an independent work on a text is required, and also active participation in the meetings.
