Course content
|
Countryside and rural areas (definition, elements, structure and potential). Structure, functions and dynamics of the countryside. Principles of the projecting of rural countryside, different attitudes, solutions and typology of the countryside. Potential and capacity of the countryside. Basic methods of the projecting of the countryside used in the Czech republic and other countries. Historical evolution of villages and its surroundings, functions and influence of the countryside. Spatial-functional management of agroecosystems, principle of biodiversity, flows of organisms in the countryside and substance-energetic flows, principle of changes in the countryside and countryside stability, sustainable development - definition and aspects, sustainable farming system, productive and non-productive functions of land, principles of multifunctional agriculture, farming systems - conventional ones - integrated and organic farming systems, projecting of sustainable farming systems - stages, research, analysis of the current state, land-ecological optimalisation of an area of interest, spatial and functional optimalisation of parcels in the countryside, evaluation and balance of flows of substance and energy in an agricultural subsystem, projecting of a transitional period and final state, programmes of the protection and revitalisation of the agricultural environment. Basic characteristics of general models of sustainable farming in the countryside - differenciation based on land-climatic conditions in the Czech republic.

Learning outcomes
|
The subject aims to provide theoretical and methodological basis for preparation and projecting of sustainable farming systems in the framework of the strategical regional development.
After absolving of the subject, students gains knowledge of principles of development of sustainable farming systems and ability to propose measures focused on environmental and production sustainabilty of farm.

Basic knowledge of organic farming and ecology.
