Course content |
The content of the course will be specified by the teacher at the beginning of the semester to respect the topic of the dissertation and its professional direction. The teaching consists mainly of self-study from the recommended literature and individual consultations between the student and the teacher. The course of study includes in particular the following topics: 1. conventional/integrated/organic crop production - basic background 2. agrotechnical practices for sustainable and organic agriculture 3. pest control system in sustainable and organic agriculture 4. modern technologies in the sustainable and organic farming system 5. cultivation of major field crops in sustainable and organic farming 6. alternative crops in sustainable and organic farming 7. the impact of reduced-input farming systems on the quality of production The study includes field trips to organic farms and preparing a seminar paper which serves as a base for the exam. The course is designed to serve as a basis for an oral examination. The assignment of the thesis is chosen by the teacher so that the student can use it as one of the documents for the dissertation.

The course further deepens the student's knowledge of crop production in the sustainable and organic agriculture system and introduces him to this field's methodology.
Compared to similarly focused courses at the bachelor's and master's level, a graduate of a doctoral course has knowledge that goes more in-depth in selected topics and covers more complex and broader aspects of the subject. |

Oral examination
The course is based on an independent study of professional and scientific literature, recommended by the teacher. The student also elaborates an essay on a topic related to his/her dissertation, which also serves as a basis for the oral examination. |
