Course content
The course is focused on the physiology of the whole plant and its relationship to the environmental conditions. An overview of general knowledge is supplemented by examples of specific characteristics and requirements of agricultural crops and wild plants. The main attention is paid to the following topics and their interrelationships: 1. Water regime of the whole plant, plant adaptation to drought 2. Mineral nutrition, its relation to production and yield generation, adaptation of plants to extreme soils 3. Photosynthetic carbon assimilation, formation and distribution of assimilates, yield formation Teaching has a form of a self-study guided by consultations with the teacher. An individual approach is applied, which takes into account the current knowledge of the doctoral student and his professional focus. Part of the course is the elaboration of a thesis focused on physiological aspects of selected plant species in relation to the topic of the dissertation, using the study literature and original scientific papers in scientific journals.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to recapitulate the knowledge of plant physiology and extend it in relation to the topics of the dissertations.
Detailed knowledge of plant physiological processes, in particular of those related to the topis of the student´s dissertations
Prerequisites
Knowledge of biology and biochemistry gained during bachelor and master studies.
