Course content
Biology and its position in the scientific system, the categorization of biological sciences and the history of biology. Organization of living systems, their specific features, procaryonts and eucaryonts, single cellular and polycellular, higher individuals. Cytology of the plant and animal cells, the main differences between animal and plant cells. The reproduction of living systems, basic anatomy and morphology of plants and animals, tissues, organs and metamorphosis. The overview of the plant and animal system, families and taxa important in agriculture.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to inform students about the main characteristics of living systems and basic biological principles applicable in agriculture, food industry, biotechnology, forestry etc.
Acquisition of a basic unifying overview of biological sciences, their history, anatomy and morphology of plants and animals, basics of plant and animal systematics from the agricultural aspect

Assessment methods and criteria
Systematic student observation, Combined exam, Development of laboratory protocols

Completion of all exercises (max. 2 excused absences), active participation in work tasks and microscopic observations (individual control is effectively enabled by new video microscopic equipment of the classroom - ERDF project), submission of described drawings from microscopic observations (credit condition).
