Course content
|
The quality of the diet greatly influences the welfare of animals. The course provides information on the diversity of live food suitable for vivarium animals (fish, amphibians, reptiles) and introduce the methods how to keep them. The physiological basis of nutrition, the proportion and dosage of vitamins and minerals are also part of this course as well as the supplement of artificial preparates.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with food demands of vivarium animals and with methods of breeding of animals used as live food.
Acquisition of theoretical knowledge usable in breeding aquarium and terrarium animals.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
Completion of laboratory exercises and presentation of selected groups of invertebrates usable as live food for aquarium and terrarium animals.
