Course content
|
Definition and content of zoology, its importance for agriculture and nature conservation. Protozoa, characteristics of unicellular animals, biology and importance. Plathelminthes, Nematoda, Acanthocephala, Annelida and Mollusca, groups important in soil and aquatic environment, organisms important in veterinary and human medicine (parasites). Arthropoda - characteristics, taxonomy and economically important groups. Crustacea - taxonomy, biology and species important for agriculture. Insects - morphology, anatomy and ecology, importance for agriculture. Chordata - tribe characteristic. General characteristic and system of Vertebrata. Cyclostoma and Chondrichthyes: characteristic, biology and ecology. Pisces: morphology, physiology and ecology, overview of important species. Amphibia, Reptilia: biology, system, importance as bioindicators and preservation. Aves: morphology and physiology, specific properties, overview of the system, orders living in central Europe, importance and conservation. Mammalia: morphology and physiology, overview of the system, orders living in central Europe, importance, conservation, domestication.

Learning outcomes

Basic biology course. The aim is to give an overview of the zoological system, biology of main taxonomic groups with respect to their importance for agriculture, ecosystems management and nature conservation, including maintenance of biological stability including regulatory mechanisms
Based on the acquired theoretical knowledge, a better understanding of animal production subjects
