Course content
1. Basic concepts of chemical technologies. 2. Basic technological operations - processing of solids, liquids and gases. 3. Catalysis - manufacture of H2SO4, HNO3. 4. Electrolytic processing - manufacture of NaOH, Cl2 and Al. 5. Electro-thermic and thermic processing. 6. Glass and ceramics processing. 7. Organic technology - basic concepts and raw materials. 8. Crude oil and coal processing. 9. Selected petrochemical processing. 10. Biotechnology - basic characteristic of biotechnological process 11. Production of malt and beer. 12. Production of wine and ethyl-alcohol. 13. Special fermentation technologies. 14. Excursion.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Excursion
  • Preparation for classes - 8 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 6 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 36 hours per semester
  • Field trip - 2 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Basic principles of chemical-technological processes (thermal, diffusion, mechanical). Inorganic chemical technology (heavy inorganic technology, metallurgy, manufacture of fertilizers, technology of silicates). Technology of organic chemistry (basic processing of coal and petroleum, petrochemical manufacture of basic products, technology of selected products). Food technology (fermentation processes, special biotechnological processes). Ecological aspects of chemical technologies.
Ability to use obtained technological knowledge in other chemical and related disciplines.
Prerequisites
Knowledge base of inorganic and organic chemistry and biochemistry.
