Course content
|
Characteristics and taxonomy of prokaryotes. Survey of phytopathogenic bacteria, phytoplasma and other prokaryotic microorganisms. Interactions between phytopathogenic prokaryotes and plant hosts. Infection cycle of phytopathogenic prokaryotes. Symptoms of bacterial diseases. Bacterial diseases of crop plants, vegetables, fruit trees, ornamental plants. Methods of detection of bacterial diseases, protection against phytopathogenic bacteria. Bacteria as pathogens of plant pests. Utilization of bacteria in biological protection against diseases, pests and weeds.

Learning outcomes
|
Theoretical background and practical skills in the field of bacteriology. Prokaryotic microorganisms and their role as plant pathogens. Utilization of bacteria in biological plant protection.
Students are able to orientate in the field of phytopathogenic bacteria and bacterial diseases of plants

Oral examination, Written examination
Active participation in exercises, protocols from laboratory exercises, understanding the curriculum defined for the exam.
