Course content
Contents of the course: - the seminar is focused on the acquisition and processing of professional data with emphasis on foreign sources, - their subsequent use for their own study and elaboration of a diploma thesis, - theoretical knowledge in the field of data acquisition, - orientation in work with literature and literary sources, - possibilities of individual database systems and their accessibility from the academic and public network, - orientation in the possibilities of using library systems, - an overview of partial issues in the field of his diploma thesis.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Preparation for credit - 20 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to teach students to work with professional literature and other resources, both printed and from web application, especially through electronic information resources provided by USB. Students will gain knowledge of citation standards (general standard, field specifics), the ability to create basic publications: professional article, critical discussion, poster communication, knowledge of the principles of assessment of professional text.
Students are prepared for the creation and defense of a thesis
Prerequisites
Knowledge of working with literature, computer literacy, knowledge of general biology

Assessment methods and criteria
Colloquium

Active participation in laboratora training, understanding the curriculum defined for the exam.
