Course content
Subject evolves students´ knowledge from previous genetic disciplines. It goes out from studium of genetics on molecular, cell and individual level and evolves knowledge on highest level - population genetics. In decidingrate, contentis focused on study of qualitative and quantitative traits parameters in populations, including genetically conditional diseases.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 30 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 40 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 25 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
To evolve existing students´ genetic knowledge in population genetics patterns and to create professional skills of school leavers for realization of population genetic analyses of qualitative and quantitative traits.
Genetics of qualitative traits. Genotype and gene frequencies. Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Genetics of quantitative traits. Genetic parameters of populations. The analysis of phenotype variance. Repeatability, heritability, phenotypic and genotypic correlations. Inbreeding. Population genetics in breeding.
Prerequisites
Students are able to implement, process and apply in practice results of genetic analysis of qualitative and quantitative traits, especially for efficiency and optimization of breeding processes.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Attending of seminars. Credit test.
