Course content

The farm animal genome. DNA polymorphisms, detection, identification of animals, control of parentity, population studies. Gene mapping. Detection of ETLs. Marker assisted selection. Embryo manipulation, transgenose.

Learning outcomes
|
Fundamentals and methods of genome analysis of farm animals with the goal to identify the economic important loci. Their modification by DNA technologies. Application in breeding by MAS and transgenose.
Basic information on methods used in gene engineering of animals, eg reproductive and therapeutic cloning, micromanipulation with embryos.
