Thematic blocks of lectures: Specifics of molecular biological data, their advantages and disadvantages. Acquisition of molecular biological data for the purposes of systematics (sequencing, RFLP, RAPD, AFLP, allozymes, microsatellites, SSCP, reassociation analysis, immunological methods, protein fingerprinting). Processing of acquired data - phenetic and cladistic approaches, distance and character data, methods of distance calculation based on different types of character data, construction of dendrograms, UPGMA, NJ, ML, ME, comparison of two dendrograms, reliability testing of individual branches of dendrograms (jackknifing, OUT-jakknifing , bootstrapping). Biological interpretation of results. Software for molecular phylogenetics.
