Course content
|
Medicinal plants: importance, terminology, definitions. Active substances. Seed of medical plants. Harvest of medical plants. Drug drying and storage. Production in the Czech Republic and in the world. Legislation conected with growing medical plants. Organic medical plant cutlivation. Cultivation technology of selected medical plants (milk thistle, ergot, caraway, coriander, fennel, mint, chamomile etc.). New species of medical plants - plants with stimulative effects. Qualitative evaluation of drugs.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the subject is provide knowledge about growing medicinal, and spicy plants and about their utilization and significance.
Students are able to orientate in the field of medicinal plants - overview of cultivated species, knowledge of their importance, biology, crop management and possibilities of utilization.

Standard knowledge of field crop management.

Oral examination
Active participation in exercises and excursions, understanding the curriculum defined for the exam.
