Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Demonstration
  • Class attendance - 52 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 48 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 30 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the basic principles of ecology of plant pests. Lectures and laboratory excercises give the students an overview of pest control methods used in plant protection against key pests and informations on factors affecting population ecology of pests and insects, respectively.
Students will be introduced in methods of insect pest control, with factors influencing the population ecology of pests and knowledges of insect ecology in plant protection. After the course the graduates will be able to decide whether or not to use protective actions and to what extent they will apply to harmful agents.
Prerequisites
Standard knowledge of biology from secondary school
