Course content
1. Basic concepts in transport and handling. 2. General rules for handling, factors affecting the handling and transportation. 3. Energetic balance of worker when handling loads and its transportation. 4. The importance of increasing the technical-economic levels of materials handling performance measures for transport. 5. Loading operations, integrated handling equipment on transportation facilities. 6. Loading equipment, loaders, distribution, performance, use, tool carriers. 7. Transportation equipment, dumpers, its distribution, performance and expected use. 8. Devices for the transport of loads and handling units (vehicles of categories M, N, L, S, R, T, Z). 9. Systems for handling, transport and storage of materials using shipping and handling units (gripping, embracing, supporting), palletizing. 10. Containerization, distribution of containers, container carriers. 11. Conveyors, its distribution, performance and predestination. 12. Carts, small handling equipment, tractors as the transport and handling equipment. 13. Cranes, mobile lifting platforms. 14. Transportation by rope systems, cableways.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)

Learning outcomes
The goal of course is to familiarize students with the basic problems of transport processes.
The student is able to apply the knowledge, received during the study, specified in the part: Content of the syllabus.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of physics

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Completion of a given number of seminars, active participation while solving given exercises at seminars. Study of recommended literature and meeting the criterions of the final test. During the final exam a student will prove the required level of knowledge of lectured topics (answering the chosen question).
