Course content
1. Technical standardization, its importance, objectives and main methods of technical standardization. 2. Safety and health protection during work. Basic concepts, ways to reduce the risk of injury, the contribution of man on occurrence of injury, anticipated occurrence of workplace risks when using machinery. 3. General measures to ensure work safety, the basic demands in the use and on the structure of machinery. 4. The requirements for the workplace and work environment. 5. Requirements for use machinery. 6. Accidents in transportation, traffic accidents, elimination of occurance injures in transportation, active and pasive contributions of each parts of safety systém on occurance of injuries. 7. Analysis of the causes of injuries in traffic by the driver, the environment and vehicle design, possibilities for the prevention of traffic accident classification scheme of causes of injuries in traffic. 8. Safety in material handling, general measures to eliminate or reduce risks in material handling. Work safety during construction work. 9. Meaning of of ergonomics in the field of occupational safety and health, tasks of ergonomics in safety. 10. Personal protective equipment. 11. Safety signs and signals. 12. The tests and testing of machinery, methodology of testing machinery, a general criteria for the operation of testing laboratories. 13. Metrology, gauges categories, SI units. 14. Employer's obligations in the area of prevention before the occurrence of occupational injuries.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 35 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 30 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to familiarize students with the basics of health protection at work. Students are motivated to search for the risks of injury and to actively proposing measures to eliminate the risks. There are presented suggestions to students for dealing with questions about labour safety in a broader context.
The student is able to apply the knowledge, received during the study, specified in the part: Content of the syllabus.

Learning outcomes of the course unit. The course introduces to the given issue, does not assume specific input knowledge.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Completion of a given number of seminars and seminar papers meeting required quality and range. During the final exam a student will prove the required level of knowledge of lectured topics (answering the chosen question).
