Course content
1. Classification of mobile power vehicles - tractors and lorries. 2. Engine cycles, piston combustion engines. 3. Engine composition - fixed and moving parts, load, materials, construction. 4. - 5. Combustion engine accessory - engine cooling, lubrication, admission and exhaust system and electric wiring. 6. Combustion process - Production and layering of mixtures in the combustion chamber of the engine, fuel injection, firing point or point of injection. 7. - 8. Measuring and calculation of engine specifications. 9. Couplings for torque transmission, their construction, characteristics and exploitation. 10. Gearboxes - construction, gear change, automatic gearbox, gear change without breaking the torque transmission. 11. Axillary gearbox - drive of more axles, changing of operating mode, auxiliary drive. 12. Axle drive, differential, interaxle differential, differential interlock, terminal gears. 13. Torque converter, ballast tubes, electric traction. 14. Fuel used in automotive engines -their composition, application, exhalation.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this subject is to provide information about construction and operating characteristics of motor vehicle functional units and about the trends of their development.
The student is able to apply the knowledge, received during the study, specified in the part: Content of the syllabus.
Prerequisites
Completion of subject Fundamentals of agricultural technology required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Requirements to get the credits: 1. Participation - max. 2 unauthorised absences 2. Seminar paper 3. Average grade from tests: 3 and better 4. When one condition is not met, another seminar paper on a given topic must be worked out 5. When the absence is higher than 50% the credits will not be given Exam - written test with 10 questions from which 2 are counting exercises, oral exam based on the result of the written part.
