Course content
The issues of poultry farming in connection with egg and meat production and their quality, as well as endogenous and exogenous factors, can influence them. Laying and its characteristics, reproduction of poultry, hatching and its issues, biological value of hatching eggs and biological control of hatching, methods of sexing of one-day-old poultry. Production of table eggs breeding hens. Meat performance of poultry, growth in relation to carcass value, carcass yields. Droppings and their processing. Essential aspects of poultry breeding (selection, hybridization). Implementation of performance control in poultry breeding. Poultry health protection. The quality of eggs and poultry meat leading to the production of quality foods. Welfare and quality of production in alternative breeding systems.

Learning outcomes
This course aims to acquaint students with current scientific knowledge in poultry farming.
Extensive professional and systematic knowledge in the field of poultry breeding. Knowledge of current trends in poultry breeding.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, reproduction, genetics, and nutrition in poultry.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Seminar work

Each student prepares assigned seminar paper based on professional and scientific literary sources. The work needs to be checked regularly by the tutor.
