Course content
|
The importance of poultry breeding. Laying and its characteristics. Breeding of poultry, basics of hatching, embryonic development, principles of poultry sexing. Physical characteristics and technological value of eating eggs. Biological value and evaluation of hatching eggs. Poultry slaughter performance. Growth in relation to carcass yield. Feathers, its characteristics, and use. Production of poultry droppings. Breeds and productive types of fowl, turkeys, ducks, Muscovy ducks, and geese. Technological process of egg production. Technological processes of rearing, breeding, and fattening of broiler-type hens, turkeys, ducks, Muscovy ducks, and geese. Basics of non-traditional poultry breeding (Japanese quail, pearl, ostrich). Basics of poultry breeding. Testing and evaluation of poultry performance (performance test).

Students will become acquainted with performance characteristics of poultry, breeding techniques of individual poultry breeds and categories in different types and breeding work of poultry.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills for zootechnical work in poultry breeding.

Standard knowledge of physiology, genetics, and animal nutrition.
