Course content
|
Focus of the subject: Principles of cell physiology. Blood and lymph. Circulatory and respiratory systems. Digestion system (food intake, digestion, absorption, species differences). Metabolism of organic and anorganic substances, energy and water. Physiological effect of vitamins. Thermoregulation. Excretory system. Male and female reproduction system. Physiology of fertilization, pregnancy, parturition. Milk secretion, regulation of lactation. Mechanism of hormonal effect, effects of individual hormons. Nervous system (movement and autonomic nervous systems, higher function of the nervous system). General sensory system. Special senses. Acclimatization, adaptation - stress. Species differences in response to environmental conditions. Physiology of muscular activity, movement of animals. Functional specifity of birds and fish.

Learning outcomes
|
This subject acquaints students with fundamental peaces of knowledge about animal organism functions, with their management and forming of use properties of farm animals.
Students will get acquainted with the functions and their regulation with emphasis on the production and reproduction of animals, adaptation and homeostasis.

Prerequisites
|
General knowledge - biology, genetics, chemistry, biochemistry. Knowledge of the morphology of farm animals corresponding to the bachelor's degree examination.

|
Combined exam
Active attendance at seminars, results from continuous tests, seminar presentations, protocols from exercises.
