Course content
|
The objects of theoretical teaching (lectures, seminars) represent the important fertility disorders, physiology and pathology of pregnancy, diagnostics of pregnancy, control as well as course of parturition, causes of dystocia, principles of obstetrical assistance, normal as well as abnormal course of puerperium, care of newborns and reproductive management. Practical teaching (demonstrations, trainings) includes rectal, vaginal examination of cows in dairy farms directed to diagnosis of fertility disorders and pregnancy diagnosis, monitoring of parturition and obstetrical assistance in cattle as well as pig farms and practical training of manipulation a fetus (death calve, phantom) and traction at parturition in exercise room at the faculty.

Learning outcomes
|
The teaching discipline Obstetrics is focused on infertility as well as pregnancy and parturition in farm animals.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of veterinary obstetrics and gynecology applicable in zootechnical practice.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of morphology and physiology of farm animals corresponding to the level of bachelor's study.
