Course content
The completion of this course eliminates disproportions between different forms of previous university studies and creates a basis for the study of specialized disciplines of the given doctoral study field.Principles of animal husbandry, including legislation. Philosophy and ethics of animal husbandry in the conditions of conventional and organic farming. Biological and ethological requirements of animals for housing systems. Suitability of breeds for conventional and organic farming. Specifics of nutrition of individual species of livestock in terms of natural needs. Performance, longevity and animal health. Breeding and reproduction. Biosecurity. Breeding technology. Natural methods of breeding cattle, sheep, goats, horses, pigs and poultry in terms of their welfare. Economics of animal husbandry.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to enable DSP listeners to deepen their knowledge of livestock farming in a specific way following their use for production purposes, taking into account the morphological and physiological principles of the utility characteristics and the basics of breeding work. An integral part of the course is a deeper acquaintance with the principles of zoohygiene in individual farms and compliance with biosecurity.
Students will gain extensive and specific knowledge of breeding individual species and categories of livestock, zoohygiene and biosecurity.

Extended knowledge of breeding individual species of livestock, zoohygiene and biosecurity.
