Course content
|
1. Organization of sports for people with disabilities in the Czech Republic and the importance of sports participation. Basic classification of athletes with disabilities by type of disability. Specifics of physical and sports activities for people with: physical disabilities, spinal cord lesions, amputees, DMO, visually impaired, hearing impaired and seniors. 2. Practical excursion to sports training in wheelchair basketball. 3. Practical excursion to sports training in sitting volleyball. 4. Excursion to a specialized center for physical activities for people with disabilities. 5. Student presentations focused on a selected sports discipline or physical activity for people with disabilities. Discussion on the possibilities of a physiotherapeutic approach in supporting physical activity in people with disabilities.

Aims: - Introduction into the sports management of handicapped people and description of principal groups of athletes with disabilities - Introduction into the subject of sports activities for disabled, focusing on different kind of handicaps - Description of classification of disabled people for sports competition
The course introduces students to the basic issues of physical and sports activities of people with disabilities, focusing on practical forms of sports participation and the specifics of individual groups of disabled individuals. The course includes an introduction to the organization of sports for people with disabilities, a basic classification of athletes according to the type of disability, and an introduction to the importance of physical activity for maintaining functional fitness, self-sufficiency, and social participation. The course is implemented by combining an introductory theoretical seminar, practical excursions to selected sports activities for people with disabilities, and visits to a specialized center. Students gain direct experience with the organization of training, modification of physical activities, and the specifics of sports preparation for people with various types of health limitations. The course includes independent work by students in the form of a presentation of a selected sport or physical activity for people with disabilities with a reflection on the possibilities of physiotherapy application.
