Course content
Lectures: 1. - 2. The subject of philosophy, its internal division, philosophical anthropology, biology of ethics - empathy, sympathy, consolation in primate, theory of emulators, cooperation principles. 3. - 4. Introduction to philosophical ethics - Aristoteles, I. Kant, J. Patočka, E. Tugendhat, J. Habermas, M. Heideger. 5. - 6. Philosophical concept of good and bad. Three movements in human existence (J. Patočka). 7. - 8. Relation between ethics and law. Ethical consensus. 9. - 10. A disease as a phenomenon. Health: social and individual value. Philosophy in nursing - care philosophy. Seminars: The content of seminars follows and deepens the selected topics of lectures. In seminars there is a discussion based on knowledge acquired in lectures and study of professional literature. Theoretical knowledge relates to practical training of the study branch. 1. " Get familiar with the basic terms and problematic issues in philosophy with respect to understanding the relations between philosophy as a socio-scientific discipline, medicine and nursing in the historical development and nowadays. " Students are familiar with philosophical concepts of man. " Provide basic knowledge about theoretical ethics. " Increase student's perception of ethical aspects of decision making in health care. " Provide knowledge about present ethics of health care. " Teach knowledge and skills needed to solve ethical dilemma.
" Students will be aware of the importance of philosophy as the basis of worldview orientation in their occupation in health care. " Students understand the quality and sense of human life with respect to philosophy and medicine. " Students stabilize their positive understanding of values as health, life, deepen their understanding of death and dying and complete it with new knowledge. Assessment methods and criteria

Credit: active participation in seminars, involvement in discussions, preparation for seminar topics, self-study of basic and recommended literature, elaboration of a seminar paper for the credit, this paper shall compare and asses various opinions published on the chosen philosophical/ ethical topic in professional literature and they will be the grounds for own opinion which will be adequately reasoned? Colloquium: orientation to basic philosophical / ethical topics with respect to the topic of the seminar paper and ability to discuss it on the professional level.
