Course content
Seminars: 1. Introduction to study. 2. Word formation (simple and complex words). 3. Basic categories of nouns (declension, case, gender), adjectives of the 1st and 2nd declension. 4. - 5. Terminology of the digestive system. Noun complement. 6. - 7. Terminology of the circulatory and respiratory system. Nouns of the 4th declension, prefixes, expression of laterality. 8. - 9. Terminology of the musculoskeletal system - parts of the body and bones. 10. Final credit test

Learning outcomes
o Master basic Latin grammar and vocabulary. o Understand professional medical language. o Learn correct pronunciation. o Acquire basic professional vocabulary from Latin and also Greek terminology. o Understand compounds and professional terminology adopted from Latin and Greek. o Learn to use the dictionary correctly and effectively. o Develop logical thinking, the sense for language, and language patterns. o Give an idea of the culture which laid the foundations of the erudition across Europe.
o The student understands lexical and grammatical aspects of basic medical terminology. o The student masters the correct Latin pronunciation, is familiar with the Latin-Czech dictionary. o The student can use basic Latin nouns of all declensions in conjunction with other nouns, adjectives, and prepositions. o The student knows the basic Latin adverbs and numerals and understands the verbal categories that affect the creation of professional terminology. o The student knows the equivalents of basic technical terms in Latin and Greek. o Using a dictionary, the student understands Latin diagnoses. o The student understands technical terms based on Latin and Greek.
