Course content
Lectures: (1 class per week - 12 weeks) 1. Psychology as a science, the scope of psychology, goals of psychology, biological and sociocultural determination of the psyche 2. Cognitive processes - perception, memory, learning, thinking 3. Emotions and feelings, function of emotions 4. Motivation, motivation theory, classification of needs 5. Personality, definition of the concept of personality, basic theories of personality 6. Temperament, temperament typology 7. The scope of developmental psychology, theory of mental development, factors of mental development, methods of developmental psychology 8. Prenatal period - organogenesis, difference in tissues, functional mature, life as continuum, the role of the mother, father and the effect of the quality of sociocultural environment on child development in this stage 9. Childhood " newborn - labour, Apgar score, unconditional reflexes, particular stages of mental development " infant - developmental gradients, particular developmental stages, sensomotoric intelligence " toddler - social autonomy, stages of development 10. Preschool age - stages of development, socialisation, game, basis " young school age - stages of development, the role of a pupil, the beginnings of value making, moral consciousness " puberty - stages of development, anatomic-physiological transformation of an organism, secular acceleration, development of identity " adolescence - fixation and independence, stages of development, intellectual capacity, value orientation, adolescent crisis 11. Adulthood " younger adulthood - fulfilment of basic life tendencies, stages of development, marriage, family, job fulfillment " mid-adulthood - period of life stabilisation and the culminating point, stages of development, marital and parental functions, job self-fulfillment " later adulthood - starting stereotype, mid-lifecrisis, stages of development, involution 12. Old age " early old age - the change of social position, somatic, psychic and social changes, changes of personality " later old age - family and institutional care, life finality Seminars: (0.5 classes per week - 12 weeks) 1. Labour and the newborn's self-adjustment to the environment, spontaneous activity of a newborn - game, importance of the family environment during upbringing and the development of a newborn 2. Emotional and social life of a younger newborn - development of self-awareness. Game and its importance for the all-round development of a child 3. Special emotionalities in the older toddler period 4. Most frequent educational problems in pre-school age. Personal development in the younger school age 5. Personality of an adolescent. Development of feelings and social relations in adolescents 6. Adulthood, transitron crisis in adulthood. Prevention of early ageing. Problem situations with respect to life development stages

" To provide students with an introduction to psychological terminology, knowledge about emotional perception, cognitive processes and human behaviour. " To describe the theoretical basis of psychology. " To explain biopsychosocial dimensions of humans. " To analyse particular human needs, motives and interests. " Students will possess a subjective emotional perception of illnesses. " Students will understand the difference between the attitude of health workers and the ill towards their illness. " Students will understand feeling an illnesses during its lasting " Students recognize the symptoms of professional mental deformation and the risk of occurrence of burnout syndrome.
